Craving a good cup of coffee? Coffee lovers rejoice! In this one, we share with you our list of the ten best cups of coffee in Brisbane.
Now, preliminaries. The debate on what good coffee is and isn’t is as diverse and as subjective as that of wine. We understood that and therefore endeavoured to find the most democratic way of curating this list. Don’t get us wrong, we welcome coffee sommeliers to weigh in with open arms. We enjoy moderating debates. This was just to give you a heads-up that this list is based on customer feedback. We have shelved our opinion-on purpose.
If you’re looking for excellent coffee— single origin, nitro coffee, filter coffee, espresso drinks— and the perfect spot around Brisbane’s CBD, Mary Street, Elizabeth Street, or anywhere else in Brisbane, we’ve got the list for you.
So here are the best Brisbane Cafes ready to serve you some fine coffee to add some life to your day. Enjoy.
1. Coffee Anthology
It’s always a good sign when a coffee shop is busy. It’s a clear sign that the establishment deals in good coffee. With that in mind, for us, the first giveaway that Coffee Anthology is good was that fact. Our hunch was confirmed when dug for customer reviews. They were excellent.
The perfect coffee spot for a cool day, Cofee Anthology does Aeropress, Pour Over, Cold brew in Summer, and Espresso Base. It has several beans of choice, a fact that adds to his allure. They include Dukes, Code Black, Uncle Joe’s Coffee Experience, Padre Coffee, Industry Beans, Seven Seeds and Small Batch.

Beyond selling coffee, Industry beans roast their own beans and within their Newstead establishment, they also have a greenhouse and an education centre!
As you might have known Industry Beans a brand of beans on its own. The coffee shop there (obviously) uses its own beans, and in fact, supplies them to other coffee shops in Brisbane CBD and beyond. Their cold drip is a must-try by the way.

3. Fonzie Abbott
Fonzie Abbott was born out of frustration. Its founder sought to come up with a brew that wouldn’t disappoint- any day. From what we’ve gathered, he succeeded immensely.
As you might expect, Fonzie Abbott’s management takes a lot of initiative when sourcing for its beans. Through the shop’s Farm to Palm initiative, the shop has forged personal initiatives with the best coffee farmers. What that means for you is not only are you drinking great coffee, but you’re also promoting sustainable practices!

10. Bunker Coffee
I would visit Bunker Coffee just for the peculiar look. As the name suggests, this establishment is cozied into a former bomb shelter. It is said that Marcus Allison either likes working in confined spaces or is drawn to them. Before he started Bunker Coffee, he sold hot chocolate in Kelvin Grove markets!
Don’t let Bunker’s size fool you, they brew some of the best coffee in the region. We don’t know if their beans are single-origin but we do know that they source their beans from ten local roasters, using that diversity to offer a new taste every week. Bunker’s is passionate about coffee but will cater to the other demographics as well. Think tea, juices and of course, hot chocolate too.
We encourage you to try them out. you won’t be disappointed.
